Development partner revealed to transform Deansgate rail station

Henry Boot Developments has been selected as the preferred development partner for the £100m transformation of Manchester city centre’s Deansgate Station.

The redevelopment of the station will see the existing Grade II-listed building, built in 1849, retained, with works undertaken to enhance the entrance, refresh the layout of the station and improve accessibility.

Details for the wider commercial scheme have not yet been revealed.

HBD has six regional offices, including one in Manchester, and is currently working with a commercial development pipeline of £1bn.

The developer has invested heavily in Manchester city centre in recent years, with several high-profile projects underway, including Kampus, a £250m mixed-use scheme, Silk Works, Equitable Building and Island, a transformative workspace project in partnership with Greater Manchester Pension Fund.

Adam Brady, director and head of HBD’s Manchester office, said: “There is such a lot happening in this part of the city and this site really stands out as a missed opportunity.
