Blackpool’s Winter Garden Hotel development comes to market

The proposed Winter Garden Hotel

International real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private client, has brought to market the proposed Winter Garden Hotel in Blackpool town centre on an offer invited basis. The site is held freehold.

Outline planning permission has been granted to develop the site into a five-storey hotel, comprising 203 rooms with gym, spa, restaurant and café facilities.

The development site also plans to include a car park on the lower ground floor providing capacity for up to 62 vehicles and a second floor link to the new Winter Gardens Conference Centre due for completion early 2020.

Located on Adelaide Street, the development site benefits from its prime location, situated in close proximity to the town centre and only 250 metres from Blackpool’s iconic seafront.

Dating back to 1878, the Winter Gardens is a large entertainment complex, with 12 venues for shows and events and is set to benefit further from the development of the Winter Gardens Hotel.

Tom Cunningham, hotels director at Savills Manchester, said: “Winter Gardens is an iconic destination in Blackpool, with its extensive entertainment facilities and excellent location.

“This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exciting proposed hotel development in the area, at a time when we are seeing the Blackpool hotel sector shift into the modern budget corporate market.”
