Recruitment firm swoops for Cheshire rival

Russell Taylor Holdings, the Wirral-based engineering, construction and logistics recruiter, has acquired Cheshire recruitment firm Perpetual Partnerships, for an undisclosed sum.

The investment by the business – earlier this year named as the UK’s fastest-growing privately-owned recruitment company – will see a targeted growth plan for Perpetual Partnerships and look to create 15 jobs at its Knutsford base.

Ben Russell, chief executive at Russell Taylor Holdings, said: “There will be no changes to the day-to-day operations with all employees, senior management and clients.

“This is another exciting move for our expanding group of companies with the growth potential of Perpetual Partnerships making it an important part of our group’s position as a major force in the technical recruitment industry.”

Perpetual Partnerships, the recruitment arm of the Cygnet Group, an engineering business with headquarters in Northwich, works in a number of recruitment sectors, providing mainly high level placements in sectors including manufacturing, IT and architectural.

With a £2m turnover, the business currently employs 13 staff.

Managing director Garry Rogerson, who is also a shareholder, will continue to head up the operation.

He said: “This is the beginning of a new chapter for the business and one that the whole team is looking forward to.

“We have had an excellent foundation over the last nine years under the Cygnet Group banner, and being part of Russell Taylor Holdings now marks our next phase of growth.

“We have a fantastic new office in Knutsford which is geared to accommodate up to 60 people so we are in prime position to continue our expansion plans.

“The cultural fit with Russell Taylor Holdings is also perfect so we look forward to a very long and successful future together.”

Ben added: “Both Cygnet Group and Russell Taylor Holdings see the acquisition as an important step forward for Perpetual Partnerships and its employees as the synergy between our two businesses means we can create new opportunities and build on existing strong relationships with our employers and job seekers.”

Bromborough-based Russell Taylor Holdings has subsidiary companies of Russell Taylor Group, Recruit Right, Nexus People, NMS Recruit and Assist Resourcing, spanning sectors covering engineering, construction, industrial, commercial, transport, logistics and distribution.

The group employs around 457 staff and in 2018 had revenues of more than £113m.

Ben said: “The past couple of years have undoubtedly been the most challenging in our history, yet we have constantly stuck to our ideals centred on everything we believe in as a family-run business with our roots firmly in the North West.”
