Cult entertainment venture creating new venue at Cains Brewery Village

Plans for Content

The Cains Brewery Village will be home to a new project this Summer, catering for events and markets.

Content will be a purpose-built venue offering a dedicated indoor space with a standing capacity of 2,000 and seating 1,200.

It will be complemented later this year by a ‘shipping container village’ created entirely from reconditioned shipping containers and featuring some of the region’s leading independent restaurants and bars.

The scheme will add to the continuing development of the Baltic Triangle district of the city.

Scheduled to open on August 9, Content will be launched by Johnny Bongo, the co-founder of cult entertainment attraction Bongo’s Bingo.

He and his team are relocating to Cains Brewery Village from their original venue, Camp and Furnace.

The opening weekend will feature an appearance by US singer, Kelis.

Johnny and fellow founder Joshua Burke, who set up the venture in April 2015, will be staging eight shows throughout August, with more dates to be revealed for September and the Autumn.

A spokesperson for Content said the focus is on a complete customer experience from start to finish.

“From the ground up everything has been covered, with efficient service, quality facilities and the best hand-
picked staff throughout.

“Content is investing heavily in all aspects of production and sound with state-of-the-art facilities. The venue will also feature a calendar of regular and bespoke shows, gigs, events and markets from some of the region’s taste-making pioneers and community-led projects to be announced later during the project.”
