Developer looking for views on Manchester scheme

Roof Terraces

Developer Far East Consortium is consulting people on its plans for 80 high quality new homes in Manchester.

The Hawkins\Brown designed scheme in New Cross is aimed at owner occupiers and includes ground floor three-bed town houses to create active street frontages.

The scheme also features rooftop apartments with private, stepped terraces.

Ahead of submitting a planning application to Manchester City Council the developer is looking for the view of residents and business owners on its proposals.

The site is bounded by Addington Street, Cross Keys Street, Marshall Street and Chadderton Street.

The development is designed around a shared central, landscape courtyard which will provide high-quality amenity space, with seating and planting where residents can meet and relax, plus secure cycle storage for each home.

The site is covered by MCC’s New Cross Neighbourhood Development Framework and Public Realm Strategy.

The 0.12-hectare plot is currently used as a surface car park.

Residents, site neighbours and local businesses can view the plans and provide feedback online by visiting the consultation website:www.addington-st-manchester.co.uk.

Project director Hilary Brett said: “We have received many offers to sell the site for different uses however we have decided we wanted to bring forward the site ourselves aimed at the local, residential market in this thriving new neighbourhood.

“We want to introduce our proposals to the local community and genuinely welcome and value their feedback on our scheme.”
