Creative, Digital & Tech group aims to broaden city’s influence

The group launch event

Professional Liverpool successfully launched its Creative, Digital & Tech group to a packed audience at a sold-out event focused around collaboration.

The event, held at the new Roxy Ballroom, brought together attendees from across the sector to enjoy an evening of drinks, speakers, and informal networking, with the event proving so popular that all tickets were snapped up, leading to a lengthy waiting list for those eager to attend.

The Creative Digital & Tech group has been created with the aim of providing a collective voice for the creative, digital and technology community within Liverpool and raising the profile of the sector both inside and outside of the region.

The inaugural event focused the conversation on collaboration, and its importance, inviting speakers Kelly Forshaw of Laduma and Neil Atkinson of The Anfield Wrap to share their experiences of working collaboratively and the benefits they’ve found as a result.

Chairman of the new group, Paul Furlong, laid out their aims in his introduction: “The sole purpose of this event today, the events we’ll host in the future – this entire group, is to facilitate building relationships with each other.

“We want to start conversations, and collaborations, and keep the growth and development in this city going.

“We all have our own goals, but shouldn’t collaboration be involved in all of them?”

The groups’ intention is to present, to a global stage, the Liverpool City Region as a hub of collaboration.

As a result, the best creative talent can be attracted and retained, economically growing the region.

Guest speaker Kelly Forshaw said: “These events will be important for us all to become more aware of the sector we all work in, and to build relationships with people who can be colleagues, or clients, in the future.

“We all know Liverpool is a hotspot for growth, and it’s events like this that are going to keep it going.”

Neil Atkinson said: “We collectively mark ourselves out as different, but by coming together there’s a much more powerful role that the creative industry can play. What this city has always been good at is collaboration.

“We now need to be co-conspirators for each other.”

The Creative Digital & Tech group is planning a calendar of events to encourage the sector to come together and learn from each other. The next confirmed event is October 3, at Duke Street Market, with informal meet-ups planned before then.
