Six By Nico reveals ‘The Chippie’ as its launch theme

Nico Simeone

Six By Nico, the brainchild of renowned Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone, has today announced the first menu theme available in the Manchester restaurant when it opens this month.

Foodies will be treated to a completely new six course menu every six weeks, at the same location on Spring Gardens, with the first concept themed around the local chip shop.

‘The Chippie’ will kick-start the series of evolving concepts, with flavours of the traditional fish and chip shop taking centre stage on the menu.

A nostalgic nod to the past, ‘The Chippie’ six dishes are based on the classics found in a traditional British fish and chip shop, each one re-imagined and re-created with a contemporary twist.

The new menu will include the most popular chippie dishes, with items including chips and cheese and a fish supper.

Chef Nico Simeone said: “We are very excited to launch our restaurant in Manchester with ‘The Chippie’ concept.

“Most people are familiar with the tastes and scents of their local chip shop and we wanted to take the idea of the everyday chippie menu and re-invent it to create a playful food experience that guests would recognise and be amazed by.”

‘The Chippie’ menu includes: Chips & cheese – Parmesan espuma/curry oil/salt and vinegar potato croquette; Scampi – Monkfish cheeks/pea emulsion/herb butter sauce/gribiche; Steak pie – beef shin/burnt onion ketchup/mushroom duxelle/red wine; Fish supper – cod/confit fennel/samphire/beer pickled mussels/brandade; Smoked sausage – pork belly/salt baked celeriac/caramelised apple/black pudding; and finally Deep fried Mars Bar- caramelia chocolate mousse/orange sorbet/cocoa nib.

‘The Chippie’ runs from July 14 to Sunday, August 18, and each six-course menu will be available from noon to night.

Nico said: “We couldn’t be more delighted about bringing a completely new offering and dining experience to the people of Manchester.

“By challenging ourselves to do this every six-weeks we feel we have created the perfect recipe for an exciting epicurean adventure for not just our diners, but our team, too.”

‘Six by Nico’ in Manchester will be the fourth addition to Nico’s growing restaurant portfolio, with award-winning venues including ‘111 by Nico’ and ‘Six by Nico’ already well embedded in Scotland and Northern Ireland’s restaurant scene.

The new Spring Gardens restaurant, occupying the former Roc & Rye site, will be the first in England and will replicate the concept of his Six by Nico restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, and will be home to a series of carefully curated and constantly evolving menu concepts.

Every six weeks, Nico and his team will re-invent the dining experience, serving a brand new six-course tasting-menu, each one themed upon a different place, memory or idea.

Using food as a narrative, each menu will tell a different story, taking guests on a new and exciting journey each time they visit. Each new chapter will be kept a surprise and new menus will be published two-weeks prior to the next theme.

The concept was born in Glasgow in 2017 from a passion of experimenting with new ingredients and developing and creating unique dishes.

Six by Nico Manchester will open its doors on July 14, becoming the latest addition to the city’s burgeoning restaurant and bar scene.

From its creative menu concepts to outstanding food and service, the venue will aim to become an immediate hit with the people of Manchester.
