Cheshire hotel undergoes £3m makeover

Wychwood

A Cheshire hotel and golf club has launched a multi-million pound refurbishment programme.

Wychwood Park Hotel and Golf Club is undergoing a £3m makeover, with its bedrooms, bar, restaurant and public areas earmarked for major changes.

The first phase, including 38 of the hotel’s bedrooms, is now complete, with the remaining scheduled to be ready by September.

As part of the plans, the hotel’s new-look restaurant and bar, atrium and other public areas will be unveiled in the autumn.

Robert Glashan, general manager at Wychwood Park, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for us as we create a brand new look and feel for Wychwood Park.

“We wanted to inject some life back into the hotel, keeping our spaces fresh and bright and using neutral colours throughout.

“Our atrium is the first thing our guests and visitors see, so refurb work will capitalise on the area’s natural light, creating a relaxed setting for people to meet or catch up on work if they’re with us for a conference, for example.

“We’re completing the bedrooms in phases and we’re already receiving extremely positive feedback from guests, particularly those who have stayed with us previously and can really see a difference.”

Set in 200 acres of Cheshire countryside, Wychwood Park features a PGA European Tour-standard 18-hole golf course, 110 bedrooms and 27 function suites and multi-purpose meeting rooms, as well as a restaurant, bar and clubhouse.

Now, it is hoped that the changes will help Wychwood Park showcase its hospitality offering, as well as its extensive conferencing facilities.

Project manager Mark Hateley, from MAH Consultancy, said: “From the outset, it was important that we created a strong leisure and hospitality feel for Wychwood Park, while staying true to its corporate functionality.

“We wanted to move the venue away from being seen purely as a place to hold conferences, showing guests and visitors that it really is somewhere for both business and leisure. To do this, it was essential to bring some warmth into the public areas, creating a relaxed ambience and adding a touch of luxury to the bedroom interiors.”

Robert added: “We have a truly unique offering here at Wychwood Park, in that we are not simply a hotel that has a few meeting rooms. In fact, we’re a fully equipped conference facility that has now developed into a quality hotel and golf club.

“We have strong ties with local businesses and community groups who come back to us time and time again, and their feedback – along with that of guests – has helped shape our plans.

“We’re now looking forward to unveiling our new look later this year and we’re confident that it will play a crucial role in taking us into our next chapter.”
