Top legal team acts in merger to create European toys industry powerhouse

Howard Gill

Law firm CMS has advised a leading games company on its merger with Cheadle-based James Galt & Co.

The Manchester office of the international law firm acted for JumboDiset Group, a European puzzles and games company which is based in the Netherlands but also has a UK operation.

The combination following the merger creates a significant industry powerhouse with an expansive international footprint and market-leading product innovations.

JumboDiset Group is a strong toy and nursery company that manufactures and sells games, puzzles, toys and learning and nursery products in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Its main offices are based in Zaandam, The Netherlands and Barcelona, Spain, with sales offices in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Nordic and the UK – each selling to its own market.

The collaboration blends Galt’s broad games and toys portfolio with JumboDiset’s catalogue of strong international and award-winning brands, including the UK’s number one puzzle brands such as Wasgij and Falcon.

CMS Manchester partner, Howard Gill, led the team advising JumboDiset.

He was supported by James Crossman (corporate), Abigail Ash (intellectual property), Tim Dobbing (tax) and Jayne Hindle (real estate).

Mr Gill said: “We are delighted to have supported JumboDiset Group on this strategic collaboration with James Galt & Co.

“Both businesses have an outstanding reputation for quality and integrity in the toy industry, and their combination presents a great opportunity to expand their services on a worldwide scale.”
