Teenage daughter of award-winning businesswoman found dead on family holiday

The teenage daughter of award-winning businesswoman Rachel Clacher has died while on holiday with her family in Majorca.

The body of 18-year-old Josie was discovered in a swimming pool in a villa in the town of Alaro.

Josie had been on holiday with friends and family including her mother Rachel who co-founded Moneypenny – one of the North West’s most successful businesses.

Josie was one of three sisters and was a pupil at prestigious boarding school Moreton Hall near Oswestry in north Shropshire.

A spokesperson for Moneypenny said: “We’re all extremely devastated by this tragic news and our thoughts are with the family at this very sad time.”

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman following her death in Majorca, and are in contact with the Spanish authorities.”

Rachel and her brother Ed Reeves founded Moneypenny in 2000 and it is now one of the leading outsourced secretarial services firms in the UK.

Moneypenny now employs 700 staff and handles over 13 million customer communications a year for 13,000 businesses.

The business won two awards at this year’s Business Masters Awards and is regularly recognised as one as the best firms to work for in the country.

Mrs Clacher was appointed a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List earlier this year for her work with disadvantaged young women.

She set up the Moneypenny Foundation five years ago and the charity is now called WeMindTheGap.

Rachel now devotes much of her time supporting young women from deprived backgrounds through training and support programmes.

Josie’s father David manages an opticians practice in Wrexham.
