Fifty jobs have been saved after Manchester based AWH Solicitors bought a Blackburn law firm out of administration.

AWH Solicitors completed the acquisition of Roebucks Solicitors for an undisclosed sum.

The 100-year-old firm had gone into administration earlier this month.

Earlier this year AWH Solicitors announced plans to expand its services across the North West through acquisition and organic growth.

The firm is being backed by Sandton Capital Partners, a special situations investments fund.

This latest acquisition is the first the firm has completed outside of their personal injury specialism.

It strengthens their existing business and increases their turnover to more than £14m and their members of staff to 150.

Established in 1909 by Roger Oddie, Roebucks Solicitors has practiced law in Blackburn for more than 100 years. It also has offices in Clitheroe and Leyland.

The acquisition by AWH Solicitors retains all staff employed by Roebucks and strengthens the services provided by AWH. To date AWH has turned over £10m, recording 150% growth in 2018.

Abdul Hussain, AWH managing director, said: “We are committed to growing the firm through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth and are delighted to complete the acquisition of Roebucks Solicitors.

“We will retain the Roebucks brand and their staff who will now also become part of the AWH Solicitors group. We are really looking forward to working with the team and extending our footprint into Lancashire.

“This latest acquisition forms part of our intention to complete £100m-worth of quality acquisitions in the next two years that complement and enhance our existing services and team.

“We are actively looking to seek new opportunities and as a result of organic growth we are also looking to grow our team with a range of new roles available from junior to director level.”

AWH was established in 2017 and today employs more than 100 people. The acquisition of Roebucks Solicitors increases this to more than 150.

It is a modern, multi-service law firm providing award-winning legal services to clients nationwide.

The team of solicitors offer guidance and support for a range of legal matters, from family law and employment law to immigration, housing disrepair, personal injury, medical negligence, industrial disease and conveyancing.
