Law firm announces series of appointments across business

Manchester law firm JMW Solicitor has announced a series of new appointments across its business.Joe Cobb has joined the firm as a partner in the private client team from Addleshaw Goddard where he was previously a managing associate.

Joe had been with Addleshaw Goddard for over ten years where he started as a trainee solicitor.

He advises clients in tax, estate and succession planning and his clients include high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and owner managed businesses.

Joe is a qualified member of The Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) which is the leading professional body for private client practitioners.

Previously Joe was a full-time professional rugby league referee and has refereed some of the best teams in the world including England, New Zealand and Australia and has officiated at the Challenge Cup Final.

He now also sits as a magistrate in the criminal courts.

Michael Atherton has joined the banking and finance team at JMW as an Associate having been at Addleshaw Goddard for nearly three years.

Michael joined JMW following the appointment of Scott Cameron who joined to lead the banking and finance team in January.

Michael has a wide range of experience advising borrowers, lenders and sponsors on bilateral and syndicated financing arrangements.

Matthew O’Neill has joined the commercial litigation team from Addleshaw Goddard as a Senior Associate.

Matthew joined to work closely with new commercial litigation Partner Steven Morris who joined JMW in May. Matthew has significant experience working on large, complex and high value litigation in the High Court and in International Arbitration.

Emma James joined JMW in June as a senior associate in the employment team from Brabners.

Emma has over eight years’ experience advising businesses and individuals on employment law issues and also specialises in recruitment law and has significant experience of advising on regulatory issues and conducting audits of recruitment businesses.

Rebecca Young has joined the media law team as a senior associate from BLM.

She specialises in advising clients on reputation management, including dealing with media coverage, data privacy and intellectual property disputes.

Other new Fee Earners who have joined JMW recently in the Manchester office include Layla Atha and Grace Copeland, Zaigham Jaffri, Omar Hadi and Ella Hunter.
