BAE to axe 270 jobs in Barrow and Oldham

BAE Systems plans to axe 230 jobs at its submarine site in Barrow-in-Furness, with another 41 being lost at its Oldham site.
The majority of job losses are within its submarine construction division, follow a review by the company of current and future workload requirements, it said.The jobs being lost at the Chadderton Military Air Solutions site are being blamed on the slow the introduction of the Nimrod MRA4.
