Lancashire’s first Pilates studio launches

A FORMER ballet dancer has turned a previous injury into a business advantage by launching Lancashire’s first Pilates studio.

Keely Haigh has opened Lancashire Pilates Studio, in Nelson, after she discovered the effectiveness of pilates following knee surgery.

She was training to be a professional dancer at the Northern Ballet School, in Manchester, when she sustained the injury.

Following rehab involving Pilates for her injury, Keely realised she wanted to become an instructor for the technique and open her own studio.

Keely has secured a two year letting with property group Hurstwood to open the studio.

The 25-year-old, who lives in Barrowford, said: “I discovered the benefits of Pilates whilst I was having rehab sessions after injuring my knees.

“I loved it and realised it was a great way to help the body improve core strength. The problem was I had to travel miles to the nearest pilates studio.

“I started training so I could take it up professionally and since qualifying I have been looking for somewhere to set up my own studio.

“Bridgewater House in Nelson was exactly what I was looking for – I wanted something modern and spacious but also local and secure, which provided car parking facilities for clients.

“There are no other Pilates studios in the area and I think there’s a real market for it.”

Tracy Clavell-Bate, sales and letting manager, at Hurstwood said: “It’s a delight to welcome Keely to Bridgewater House.

“There is nothing similar in the area so it is bound to create a lot of interest.”

Hurstwood has commercial property interests across the North West, Midlands and Wales with approximately 500 occupier clients at over 95 locations which include the PCT in Bolton, Rochdale Post Office, Lune Industrial Park in Lancaster and Edwin Foden Business Centre, in Sandbach.
