Spanish giant opens trade counter

SPANISH timber wholesaler Finsa has started selling direct to the public for the first time from a shop in the Wirral.

The group, which has been trading in Spain since 1931 and employs over 4,000 staff worldwide, ships materials into the UK at Vittoria Dock where it has decided to open its first trade counter.

Inward invesmtent body Invest Wirral has been working with the group on the new initiative.

UK managing director Rafael Willisch said: “DIY is massive in the UK and we decided to look at the feasibility of selling Finsa products directly to the consumer. We undertook some analysis and worked with Invest Wirral to understand the area better and decided that now was the right time to branch into this way of selling.

“Through our Wallasey trade counter we are now able to sell our flooring and kitchen products directly to the trade like joiners and kitchen fitters as well as to the general public.”

Finsa employs 18 staff at the Wirral trade counter and shipping office and has plans to expand.
