Ormskirk entrepreneur shines with solar firm

A LANCASHIRE businessman who owns an energy assessment firm has launched a new company, offering solar panels for homes and businesses.

Peter Bladen has launched BSolar, based in Halsall, Ormskirk, to supply and install solar panels on the back of rising energy bills, and the government’s introduction of incentives for more environmental policies and technology.

Mr Bladen already owns The Energy Foundation, which he set up in 2008 to train people to become energy assessors. The company now employs nine staff and has a turnover of around £500,000.

He said: “As managing director of the Energy Foundation, I have been working in the environmental sector for years and seen the technology and the market develop.

“There is definitely a demand in the North West for some of the new green technologies available, particularly the solar photovoltaic panels.

Mr Bladen said solar panel technology gives at least an 8% return year on year.

He added: “They are now so advanced that they can generate huge amounts of power and, with recent changes in government legislation represent an excellent investment, giving major savings on energy bills.”
