Data centre specialist IDA snapped up

AN ENGINEERING company in Tattenhall specialising data centre installations has been acquired by a London-based competitor for an undisclosed sum.

Integrated Design Associates has been snapped up by Hurleypalmerflatt, which employs around 300 people and turned over £22.1m last year.

Hurleypalmerflatt  said that the acquisition would boost its capacity in sectors such as commercial offices, financial services, technology, industrial and pharmaceutical.

Following the acquisition, its Manchester operations will be run by regional director Mike McDonagh. Mark O’Grady, who set up IDA in 2002, becomes hurleypalmerflatt’s divisional director and will be responsible for winning new business.

Hurleypalmerflatt’s CEO David Young said: “Data centre capacity is a major issue for many leading corporate occupiers, blue-chip developers and technology providers.

“Acquiring Integrated Design Associates strengthens hurleypalmerflatt’s capability in data centre design and mission critical engineering and means we are well positioned to respond and deliver what the market needs, both in Manchester and in the North West.”
