Trafford Council appoints new chief exec

THERESA Grant has been appointed as Trafford Council’s new chief executive.

Ms Grant has been carrying out the role on an interim basis since August last year following the departure of former chief executive Janet Callendar.

She joined Trafford Council in June 2009 as corporate director for transformation and resources and had previously worked on transformation and regeneration programmes at Manchester City Council for 14 years.

She is also the lead member of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) on improvement and efficiency, as well as heading its procurement hub.

Ms Grant has spent almost 33 years in local government in both Ireland and the UK, and is also a trustee and director of the Irish World Heritage Centre Charity based in Manchester.

Trafford Council leader, Cllr Matt Colledge, said: “I am delighted that Theresa will be taking the helm at Trafford Council on a permanent basis.

“She has already made a huge impact at the council, driving forward an exciting Transformation Programme that is changing the way we work to provide more cost-effective services for our residents than ever before.”
