'Sun seekers escape economic gloom'

MORE people jetted off to warmer countries in the summer to escape the wet weather and gloomy economic outlook.That's the conclusion of Manchester's strategy board New Economy which has collated a raft of Greater Manchester statistics in its monthly monitor.It said passenger numbers at Manchester Airport grew by 6.6% in June - up to 2.04 million from 1.9 million last year.Against that data, the number of people claiming Job Seekers' Allowance rose, house prices continued to fall - average price £104,000 - and hotel occupancy ......for the full story register now for free or login below...
