Bglobal acquires Welsh software firm

SMART meter firm Bglobal has bought a software business based in Bangor.

It has acquired Draig Technology, which specialises in billing software for electricity suppliers as well as customer relationship management programmes.

Darwen-based Bglobal paid £675,000 through its Utilisoft subsidiary.

Draig, owned by Richard Sheppard, had revenues of £434,700 in the year to May 31.

Bglobal said the deal would give it a billing solution that it can sell to new entrants to the market and existing suppliers.

Chief executive Tim Jackson-Smith said: “We know from talking to our key customers that the ability to offer a flexible, fully integrated billing and Pay As You Go solution is of major strategic importance to them and the skills, experience and intellectual property rights that we acquire as a result of this deal mean we are in a strong position to offer a class leading solution to our customers.”
