Hotel La Tour chooses Salford for second hotel

HOTEL La Tour is planning a 14-storey four star hotel close to the Lowry Hotel.

It has submitted plans with landowner Bruntwood for the block on land next to the River Irwell on New Bailey Street.

Hotel La Tour is a new operator lead by the former management team of Hayley Conference Centres which was sold to a private equity firm in May 2007 in a £358m deal.

In March it opened a £24m, 174-bed venue in Birmingham. The Manchester hotel will have 223 bedrooms and suites, plus a restaurant and bar on the top floor.

Like Birmingham, it will also have a café and deli on the ground floor plus a conference and events floor.

Hotel La Tour managing director Jane Schofield said: “An application was submitted to Salford City Council this week for a site in New Bailey Street. It would allow us to extend the four star Hotel La Tour brand into a new and exciting market.”
