Carlsberg takes action against Blackpool’s North pier

BREWING giant Carlsberg UK has issued a winding up order against a Blackpool pier.

Northampton-based Carlsberg has issued a petition against Northern Victorian Pier Ltd, the owner of the town’s North Pier which opened in 1863.

The papers claim Carlsberg is a creditor of the pier which has several bars.

The pier was acquired last year by the Sedgwick family from Trevor Hemmings’ Six Piers business.

Over the past 20 years, the Sedgwick family has developed a number of rides and attractions on Blackpool’s South and Central Piers, including the Big Wheel.

The case will be heard at Blackpool County Court at November 15. Neither the Sedgwick family or Carlsberg could be reached for comment.
