Cobbetts on cue with Manchester International Festival

LAW Cobbetts has retained its position as sole legal adviser to the Manchester International Festival.

The programme for the fourth festival, which will take place in July next year, will be led by celebrated actor and director Sir Kenneth Branagh, who will be starring in Macbeth in a deconsecrated church in the city.

Mercury Prize-winning band The xx, will also join the MIF line up, which will be announced in full in February.

Mosley-Street-based Cobbetts has been the sole legal provider since the festival’s inception, delivering specialist advice on areas such as artists’ contracts, broadcast rights and the staging and production of events.

Frances Anderson, partner and specialist in technology and media law at Cobbetts, will head the team.

Senior partner Stephen Benson said: “Manchester International Festival celebrates artistic innovation on an international scale and is another jewel in Manchester’s crown.

“We really enjoy our partnership with the festival, which engages the legal team, staff and clients on a broad front with the performing arts and the city.”
