Administration looms for Malmaison parent

THE company behind hotel brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin is set to appoint administrators.

The MWB Group, which also owns 75% of serviced office provider MWB Business Exchange, says the problems affecting the parent company would have “no impact” on the trading of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, and that both businesses were “continuing to trade in line with expectations”.

Malmaison has hotels in Liverpool Manchester and Leeds.

MWB said it has filed a notice of intention to appoint two insolvency practitioners from Deloitte as joint administrators after talks to find a buyer for the 26 hotels or a new investor had so far failed.

A statement said: “It should be noted that this proposed appointment of administrators only relates to MWB Group Holdings Plc.

“MWB Malmaison Holdings and its subsidiaries, which together own and operate the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin hotel chains, and MWB Business Exchange and its subsidiaries, which together own and operate the Business Exchange serviced offices business, are not being placed in administration and are expected to continue trading normally.”
