Dunlop Heywood expands rates appeals arm

PROPERTY consultant Dunlop Heywood has acquired The Focus Rating Agency based in Manchester.

It means Dunlop Heywood will take on 500 live rating appeals which will be handled at its offices in Leeds and Manchester.

The Focus Rating Agency was owned and managed by Paul Wigmore. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Dunlop Heywood director Stuart Hicks said: “Conditions in the industry have been particularly tough over recent years but this has also presented opportunities for Dunlop Heywood and our clients.

“Focus’ clients can now look forward to the same level of support and success for their individual rating appeals going forward.”

Dunlop Heywood, which has 25 staff, said revenue for 2011-12 is ahead of the previous year thanks in part to winning clients such as retail group Bosideng and UK Coal.

Following the Focus deal it is looking for a new rating associate and head of office in Leeds.
