Appointments: JAM Recruitment; Gorvins; Mathys & Squire

SALE-based JAM Recruitment, which focuses on the defence, aerospace, technology, energy, manufacturing and professional services,  has appoined industry veteran Grahame Nix OBE as group business development director.

Mr Nix, a former board member of Marshall Aerospace, was also a non-executive director and is now adviser to the board of manufacturers’ organisation the EEF.

He said: “Having experience of the labour market, both as a user and supplier I know all too well the challenges faced not only by the aerospace sector but across the UK manufacturing industry, and what a significant barrier to growth these can be.

MATHYS & Squire, the specialist law firm which specialises in intellectual property, has appointed Emma Radcliffe as marketing manager in its Manchester office.

Ms Radcliffe, 35 is a former PR and marketing consultant from South Manchester who has worked with brands including Panasonic, and Specsavers.

She said: “The firm is already growing at a phenomenal rate, but there are still large sections of the business community unaware of how using their intellectual property creatively can add value and how experts, such as Mathys & Squire, can deliver tangible benefits for their business.”

Mathys & Squire has five offices across the UK, a turnover of £21.5m, and has been achieving a year-on-year growth of 25% for the last three years.

STOCKPORT-based law firm Gorvins has promoted wills, trust and probate expert Christine Thornley to partner.

Ms Thornley, who joined the firm six years ago, specialises in succession planning and estate administration for business owners and high net-worth individuals, Court of Protection and Lasting Powers of Attorney matters, trust work and work with parents of disabled children.
