Developers plan 440 student beds at Odeon site

PLANS for a student block at the former Odeon cinema site on Liverpool’s London Road have been scaled up.

The cinema, which dated back to 1934, was demolished last year and is now surface car park.

In October an applicant called Robert Cooper applied for permission to build a block with 118 student rooms.

Now Liverpool’s Pointfield Developments and Taylorson Developments, based in Manchester have applied to build a 10-storey block with 440 student beds.

Day Architectural Design at Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancashire, is handling the application.
