Strong pipeline for Nanoco

PIONEERING nanotechnology firm Nanoco Group has reported an “acceleration” of business development discussions and expects to announce a number of new contracts.

The Manchester firm makes quantum dots – tiny fluorescent particles of semiconductor material which have the ability to emit light.

They are in demand by the makers of electronic goods because they consume less power than existing systems.

In an AGM statement chairman Peter Rowley said: “The current financial year has started well, and we are pleased with the momentum across our business.

“As we mentioned in our preliminary results, there has been an acceleration in our business development discussions, which reflects worldwide interest in our cadmium-free quantum dot technology.

“We look forward to announcing further commercial contracts in due course across our three key applications – LED backlighting of LCD displays, LED general lighting and solar power – and remain confident about the future prospects of the company.”
