JLR recalls 800 Evoques

JAGUAR Land Rover is to recall hundreds of its vehicles worldwide after potential faults were identified in the braking and steering systems.

The company said that around 800 of its Halewood-produced Range Rover Evoque models were affected by the steering fault and were being recalled, while 600 Evoques and Freelanders were being called back because of a brakes issue.

The manufacturer has issued the recall even though there have been no problems or accidents reported.

JLR said it was voluntarily issuing the safety recall so it could inspect the power assisted steering gear mounting fixings in certain Evoque models and the brake callipers in certain Freelander and Evoque models, the latter has been traced to a batch of vehicles produced on June 11 this year.

Customers owning the affected vehicles will be contacted in the next few weeks, the company added.

The problems are thought to affect 235 cars in the UK, while in China around 340 vehicles are thought to be amongst the batch.

The recall is the first to affect the Evoque, which has been a global sales phenomenon since its launch last year.
