Gyron emerges out the ashes of Envirolink

FOUR former colleagues at the Envirolink North West, including ex-chief executive Nick Storer, have set up a new low-carbon consultancy.

Called Gyron, the new venture is based in Didsbury and comprises Mr Storer, Nicola Ball, Katherine Burden and Sue Gibson

Envirolink, which was placed in voluntary liquidation on January 8, was a casualty of the closure of the North West Development Agency, which was a major source of funds.

The Gyron partners, who jointly have more than 50 years’ experience in the low carbon, energy and environmental sectors aim to provide expertise to businesses already involved in low carbon, or those interested in entering it.

Nick Storer, said “The failure of Envirolink was very sad, all of our staff tried so hard to help the company make the transition from a public sector funded organisation into a commercial business, but the cards were stacked against us.

“Gyron has been created to ensure that UK businesses make the most of the opportunities in the low carbon market; ensuring company growth, job and wealth creation for the UK economy.”

Nicola Ball said: “The low carbon sector is one of the few bright spots in the UK economy at the moment; over the past few years this sector has been growing, in spite of the recession. We’ve formed Gyron to make sure that the legacy of Envirolink is not lost.”
