Peter Kenyon joins 2ergo board

FORMER Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has joined Salford app specialist 2ergo as a non-executive director.

2ergo, which develops mobile applications and payment systems, described Mr Kenyon’s experience as a “valuable asset”.

Most recently Mr Kenyon was head of international sports at Creative Artists Agency, a Los Angeles based agency for showbiz and sports stars.

He joined Manchester United in 1997 and was chief executive from 2000-03 before holding the same role at Chelsea from 2003-09.

2ergo’s chief executive Neale Graham said: “The wealth of commercial and operational experience Peter brings will be a valuable asset at this exciting time as our contactless mobile commerce solution, podifi, continues to gain momentum.

“We look forward to announcing additional high profile appointments to the non-executive team shortly.”

2ergo Group also said it had signed agreements with Jersey-based telecom network JT Group and the University of Salford’s Student’s Union to use its podifi contactless mobile loyalty and couponing system.

It allows customers on any mobile network to redeem local discounts and promotional offers using their phones. Once the app is downloaded users can redeem offers by tapping the phone over a specially installed ‘podifi pod’, connected to the till.

The group said such deals are driving its sales pipline although some larger customers are taking longer to finalise contracts than expected. However, the board anticipates that the group is likely to return to profit in the year ending August 2014. Its current cash balance is £800,000 with its banking facilities unutilised.
