FAMILY-owned office supplies company Egan Reid has bought a smaller Liverpool-based competitor.

FAMILY-owned office supplies company Egan Reid has bought a smaller Liverpool-based competitor.

The Stockport firm expects the purchase of Knowsley-based Dart Office Supplies will boost its turnover to over £15m.

Egan Reid was established in Stockport in 1957 and provides stationery and office furniture to private and public sector clients.  The will deal boost its customer base and expand geographical presence.

Martin Reid, joint managing director of Egan Reid said: “We are pleased to have purchased Dart, a well-run business which will enable Egan Reid to grow its market share in the North West. Hopefully there will be more acquisitions to come.”

Jamie Partridge, associate at Brabners Chaffe Street, acted for Egan Reid and said: “Egan Reid has a strong growth strategy and continues to go from strength to strength despite the tough market conditions and we are delighted to be able to assist them with that.”

Benn Longshaw from Sedulo advised Egan Reid on the structure of the deal and corporate finance.

The sellers, the Thewlis family, were represented by Robert Dobson of Napthens and Helen Gibson of RSM Tenon.
