Myriad CEG to sell or close NW wind operation

GREEN energy firm Myriad CEG is axing its Lancashire-based wind energy division, just a few months after opening it.

The Leicestershire-based company has put more than 20 staff at the operation at Red Scar Industrial Estate in Preston in consultation and is trying to sell the wind business.

The company only took a 13,000 sq ft lease last October as it announced plans to use the base as a platform for growth
.

It is understood that major problems with a supplier have prompted Myriad CEG’s exit from the business.

A spokesperson for Myriad CEG said: “Myriad CEG is proposing to close its wind offer. This is due to a range of external influences beyond our control, exacerbated by the current economic climate.

“We are currently consulting with staff, customers and suppliers as well as talking to potential buyers.”
