300 homes planned in Brinnington revamp

COUNTRYSIDE Properties will build 292 new homes as part of Stockport’s regeneration plans for Brinnington.

The council’s executive approved Countryside as preferred bidder at a meeting of the executive on April 2.

They also agreed to new leisure facilities to replace the Life Leisure Lapwing Centre. A consultation on the relocation of Castle Hill High School to Offerton is on-going as part of the plans.

Councillor Iain Roberts, executive member for economic development and regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “We’ve been working hard for a number of years to improve housing and facilities in Brinnington and this marks a significant step forward.

“The next step is to talk to local people and find out their views on the developments. We’re going to start consulting with residents and community groups in the next few months and I would encourage everyone to have their say.”
