Appointments: European MD for Exova; A-Plant; Training 2000 & more

EXOVA, the international metal testing and advisory group, has appointed Mike Pooley as its new European managing director.

He joins Exova from CHEP, the world’s leading provider of pallet and container pooling services, where he was senior vice president for sales and customer operations and responsible for managing $1.2bn of annual revenue.

At Exova, which is headquartered in Manchester, Mr Pooley has responsibility for 36 testing facilities and over 1,000 experts across Europe supporting customers in the aerospace, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, food and industrials sectors.

Exova’s chief executive Ian El-Mokadem said: “Mike brings a strong customer focus combined with excellent operational management experience gained in international markets. His appointment further signals our commitment to offering our customers the best possible service through our global network of facilities”.

WARRINGTON-based plant, tool and equipment hire company A-Plant has appointed Simon Coveney as director of its Acrow division, which supplies temporary support equipment.

Mr Coveney joins A-Plant, from rival PERI and will be responsible for the strategic development of the division with responsibility for the Acrow operational and sales teams.
 
A-Plant chief executive Sat Dhaiwal said ‘We are delighted to welcome Simon on board and intend to use his vast experience to drive and develop the Acrow business. He is joining us from one of A-Plant Acrow’s largest competitors, PERI, where he gained over 17 years’ experience in roles including regional director for South England and Wales, and this experience will be invaluable as we strive to develop new and existing markets for the Acrow business.”

TRAINING 2000, the Blackburn-based organisation has appointed Sian Wilson as head of business development.

Ms Wilson, 32, has more than a decade of experience in the industry. She previously worked as head of corporate sales for 11 years at the largest national training provider in the UK, JHP Group.

She said: “It’s a challenging move in the fact that I’ve come from a large provider, but I hope I can pass on my vast UK-wide business development knowledge and experience to help Training 2000 to expand its portfolio throughout the North West as well as put us on the map across the UK and internationally.”

MANCHESTER law firm, Boote Edgar Esterkin has appointed property expert Simon Baxter as part of its ongoing expansion.

Mr Baxter will focus on residential and commercial development and property finance.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Boote Edgar Esterkin’s already successful property team and am looking forward to working with them to promote the specialist development sector offering.”
