Europa Services buys BGM contracts
SALFORD Quays-based facilities management firm Europa Services has picked up four contracts from administrators handling the failed support business BGM Group.

SALFORD Quays-based facilities management firm Europa Services has picked up four contracts from administrators handling the failed support business BGM Group.

The business, owned by Susan and Kevin Simpkins, specialised in helping companies move premises and make best use of their space. It went into administration after being hit by a big tax bill.

Europa Services has acquired the contracts for an undisclosed sum from KPMG, saving 29 of BGM’s 55 staff based at offices in Colwyn Bay and London. The future of the other staff has not yet been confirmed.

Europa’s chief executive Greig Brown said: “This acquisition further develops our capabilities and product offering in the workspace arena, an area where we already excel as part of our facilities management offering. I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues from BGM and look forward to working with them as we continue to grow and improve our city based operation.”

Paul Flint, restructuring associate partner at KPMG, said: “After suffering from significant short-term cash flow pressures, the business was unable to meet its tax obligations. As a result, The BGM Group was placed into administration. However, we are pleased that, through a successful sale process, we were able to save 29 jobs.”

Europa has annual sales of £160m and around 4,000 staff. Its largest shareholders are Martin Jones and Ronin One LLP.
