Travis Perkins signs up for 700,000 sq ft at Omega

BUILDING products supplier Travis Perkins is planning a 700,000 sq ft distribution centre at Omega North near Warrington.

It has struck a deal with developer Omega Warrington subject to planning approval.

It is the third signing at the business park at junction 8 of the M62, following food supplier Brakes in December and delivery group Hermes earlier in the month. It takes total pre-let space to one million sq ft.

Omega is a joint venture between Miller Developments and Royal Bank of Scotland-owned KUC Properties.

Andrew Sutherland, joint managing director of Miller Developments, said: “The level of occupier success we have achieved at Omega North since Christmas is unprecedented throughout not only the North West but the whole of the UK.

“The fact that, subject to planning being granted, we have only two small sites left on Omega North demonstrates that we have now created a major logistics hub in the North West.”

If approved Omega will start building the Travis Perkins buildings in the summer for completion next year. Earlier in April permission was granted for a 600,000 sq ft distribution base for ASDA at Omega South, on the other side of the M62. In total the site covers 575 acres, with around 80 at Omega North.

JLL, GVA and Addleshaw Goddard acted for Omega Warrington. Travis Perkins was advised by CP Property Consultants, Bourne Partnership and BSDR.
