Cordial relations at Chapel St scheme

THE first major development at the Chapel Street regeneration area in Salford is to take its name from a Vimto factory that was once nearby.

The development of 83 apartments and 14 houses adjacent to the Bell Tower pub will be called Vimto Gardens.

The English Cities Fund is behind the development, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). It is responsible for the £650m Salford Central regeneration programme.

Vimto was established in 1908 at Granby Row in Manchester but moved two years later to 203 Chapel Street, around 400m from the housing development. It moved to Old Trafford in 1927 and is now based in Haydock.

Vimto’s managing director Marnie Millard said: “We’re delighted to be associated with this project and are proud to have Vimto represented as part of such an exciting development in the city.”
