CHESHIRE plastics manufacturer Britton Group, which was bought by Sun Capital Partners two years ago, has been rolled into a group with four other Sun companies.The US-based private equity firm has merged Britton with Lincolnshire-based Paragon Print & Packaging, US-based Exopack and Paccor and Kobusch, both based in Germany.It said the move would create the sixth largest plastics packaging company in the world with with annual revenues of £1.6bn, 63 plants and 8,650 employees. These are great companies in their own right, producing great products against stiffening competition from emerging economies. Let's hope this move will lead to investment in the UK divisions of the new group, to allow them to live up to their true potential. I have supplied specialist handling equipment to Britton, Paragon, Exopack and all the Kobusch UK plants, (formerly Pregis Pkg), plus Kobusch in Egypt, so I know many of the plants & personnel. I know how the plant managers have had to put off many badly needed improvements for some time and wish them all well in the future.
