Appointments: Total Fitness hires FD; DLA Piper promotes & more
WILMSLOW-based leisure clubs operator Total Fitness has appointed Andy Mellor as finance director.
Mr Mellor will form a new executive team with chief executive Richard Millman, who joined the company in February as part of a business improvement strategy led by Roo Green Ventures, the Manchester based finance house.
An experienced executive, Mr Mellor was the former head of business strategy & acquisitions at the Co-operative Pharmacy and then finance & commercial director of Assura Pharmacy Group.
Mr Millman said: “Andy joins at an exciting for the business, which has seen the first quarter of the financial year deliver a 4.6% growth in net membership and profit delivery ahead of both business plan and prior year”

INTERNATIONAL law firm DLA Piper has announced the promotion of eight lawyers across its Liverpool and Manchester offices.
Laura Nadel (employment), Tom Kelsall (real estate) and Andrew McIlhinney (pensions) have all been promoted to legal director.
In addition, Louise Barber and Kyle Quinn (corporate), Jenna Clarke (employment), Phil Williams (litigation & regulatory) and Ben Morton (finance & projects) have also been promoted to senior associate.

APPLEYARD Lees, the patent attorneys with an office on Manchester’s Mount Street, has promoted former finance director Joanne King as its new managing director.
Ms King, who joined the firm in 2010 from Deloitte, will be based in Appleyard Lees’ Halifax head office.
Her promotion marks the creation of a new management board which includes Yvonne Sanders as HR manager, Mike Quince as IT manager, Sara Baines as business development and marketing manager, Clara Lopez as formalities manager and Karen Leung as renewals manager.
