Baker Tilly called in to stalled resi scheme

ADMINISTRATORS have been appointed to a stalled residential scheme at Maghull Manor House in Liverpool with the aim of completing the project.

Chester-based Flame Estates, owned by Susan and Simon Flame, was planning to turn the grade II-listed building off Sefton Lane into apartments but went into compulsory liquidation following a winding up order in 2009.

Now administrators from the Manchester office of accountancy firm Baker Tilly have been appointed to Flame Estates Maghull by Flame’s lender.

Baker Tilly did not identify Flame’s backer but an application for listed building consent to make some changes to outhouses at the eight-acre site was made by Investec Specialist Private Bank.

In a statement Baker Tilly said: “The building is an old listed manor house in Maghull. It was being re-developed into luxury apartments but the developer ran out of funds a few years ago and so it was mothballed.

“The company’s bank has appointed Baker Tilly as administrators with a view to getting the development finished and selling the apartments in due course.”
