Manchester council issues CPO for London Road Fire Station site

MANCHESTER City Council has issued a Compulsory Purchase Order to take over the London Road Fire Station, which is owned by Britannia Hotels. The council has issued a public notice this morning stating that it is submitting the order to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, which will now decide whether to approve the order.A spokeswoman for Manchester City Council said: "This important building has been lying empty and largely disused since it was acquired by Britannia more than 20 years ago.
