Liverpool’s ACCELERATE event gets under way

ACCELERATE 2013, the festival dedicated to high-growth businesses, starts in Liverpool today with three days of top class business events, building up to a summit on Thursday featuring Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales.

ACCELERATE 2013, aims to inspire and inform those running fast-growing companies to aim higher still.

The main summit will gather 1,000 delegates for a conference and also features the first meeting of the inaugural Accelerate 250, a group of the nation’s fastest growing companies chosen for their impressive rates of expansion and job creation.

Among those chosen by former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy and Lord Young, an enterprise adviser to the Prime Minister, are small media company pH Group and Liverpool’s £1bn turnover Bibby Line Group.

From today through to Wednesday June 26th, the fringe programme will be in full swing with key sponsor RBS, holding three events, including an Access to Finance seminar at The Racquet Club on Chapel Street this morning.

It is also hosting a free seminar on ‘Starting your own Business’ today at Liverpool Marina, Coburg Wharf, Sefton Street. RBS’s team will be joined by key local business advisors, including Nick Owen, Liverpool Vision; Chris Walters, Merseyside Special Investment Fund; and Ali McGrath, The Women’s Organisation.
 
Tomorrow the bank is holding another free event, Women in Healthcare ,at the Liverpool Novotel Hotel on Hanover Street.

Liverpool Vision is also holding its own free event, ‘Crowdfunding for Entrepreneurs and Business’ at The Women’s Organisation, St James Street, also on Tuesday, from 2 – 5pm.
 
Liverpool in London’s first event, ‘Exploiting the Opportunities in the South East’ is at Liverpool Innovation Park, Edge Lane tomorrow morning from 9.30am – 12pm. On Wednesday another Liverppol in London session,  ‘Attracting Investment’ is the topic and will feature advisers from Grant Thornton, GrowthAccelerator and Stephensons Solicitors at Liverpool Innovation Park, from 9am – 4.30pm.
 
This is an event to help companies gain venture capital or Angel funding and attendees can win a free Growth Accelerator place worth £3,500 and a free two-person office for six months.
