Elvin to succeed Haxby as Squire Sanders’ regional head

INTERNATIONAL law firm Squire Sanders has appointed health and safety and environmental law expert Rob Elvin as its Manchester office managing partner.

Mr Elvin, 42, succeeds corporate partner Jane Haxby who has held the role for the last three years. Miss Haxby has been appointed Europe, Middle East and Africa chair of the firm’s global corporate practice, with a ‘patch’ covering 15 offices in 12 countries.

Essex-born Mr Elvin, who lives near Worsley, Salford,  joined the firm in 1997, and has been a partner in the Manchester office for more than 10 years.

Commenting on her new role Jane Haxby said: “It has been a great honour and a privilege to serve as head of the Manchester office and to see the office grow and prosper as an integral part of the global firm.

“Rob has played a major role in the success of the office for many years and has the enthusiasm and commitment to lead our team in the city through the next stage of its development.”

Mr Elvin added: “Jane has led the Manchester office with distinction for the past three years and I would like to thank her for the dedication, commitment and energy she has shown in driving the office forward during her tenure.

“I am delighted to take the helm of an office in great shape, at such an exciting time in the history of the firm.  We have a strong local team which represents many of the region’s leading businesses and a global platform, a real point of differentiation for us in the city, which has enabled us to bring more international work into the office.”

The father of two boys aged 11 and nine, Mr Elvin is the nephew of former West Ham United player and assistant manager Mervyn Day.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling and triathlons and says the North West is a “fantastic place” to live and work.
