Driver sees tentative return of UK construction activity

DRIVER Group, the global construction consultancy, has said that while the market remains competitive it is seeing tentative signs of recovery from the UK construction sector.

Lancashire-based Driver added that its European business has really benefitted from the integration of Trett, which it acquired for £2.2m in May last year, adding 75 staff to the group, which now employs 271 people.

The Middle East business continues to outperform management’s expectations, it said in a trading update, adding that it expects results for the year ended September 30, 2013 to be ahead of management expectations.

Dave Webster, chief executive of Driver Group, said: “I am delighted with the continuing solid growth and control of our business across the Middle East region and the continued margin improvement in Europe as the management teams there progress towards optimum staff utilisation levels.

“These gains come out of the benefits we anticipated from the acquisition of Trett as we improve our client base and increase market share and we continue to look forwards with a degree of optimism.”
