Conference centre planned for Stanley Dock

STANLEY Dock Properties has lodged plans to convert a 1950s dockside warehouse in Liverpool into a conference centre.

Stanley Dock Properties, owned by Harcourt Developments’ chairman Pat Doherty, is currently converting Stanley Dock’s Victorian North Warehouse into a hotel and has plans to convert the dock’s tobacco warehouse into apartments.

It had originally intended to demolish the 1950s building, known as the Rum Warehouse, but now envisages a conference and banqueting space.

A planning statement prepared by architects RPS said: “The planning application seeks permission for a mixed use development for a conference and banqueting centre with ground, mezzanine and first floor levels, including a large flexible ground floor dockside banquet room with conference and meeting rooms at first floor and ancillary accommodation such as dispensing kitchens, stores and office space.”

Stanley Dock is planning to complete the conversion of the North Warehouse in time for the city’s 60-day International Festival for Business next year.
