Business confidence soaring in Liverpool

MORE than three quarters of businesses in the Liverpool city region believe the economy is now stronger than 12 months ago, according to a survey.

The survey of more than 400 businesses, conducted by Downtown Liverpool in Business, showed that 77% of those interviewed had seen an upturn since 2012, while almost two thirds reported that their business has performed better during this period.

There is also a brighter outlook for the future, with 73% of businesses confirming that they were approaching the coming year with renewed confidence.

Frank McKenna, chief executive of Downtown Liverpool in Business, said: “These figures are very encouraging and demonstrate that the city region is rediscovering its business confidence.

“This was certainly the feeling at our recent Liverpool Business Week events, where countless businesses reported increased order books, improving margins and even plans for expansion.

“After five difficult years, the buds of recovery are finally starting to bloom and hopefully this will set a new trend for the next five years and beyond.”
