Developer plans Cow Hollow Hotel for Manchester

MORE details have emerged about plans for a new boutique hotel in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Muj Rana wants to convert the former Unique Woman clothes shop and textile warehouse at 57 Newton Street into a 17-bed hotel.

In a statement he said it will be called the Cow Hollow Hotel which is described as an “economical boutique” aimed at mid-week business travellers.

The plan is for, “high service standards and exquisite design features will be balanced with low operational overheads, to maintain prices comparable to the lower budget end of the hospitality sector”.

The statement adds: “Using a mixture of high quality materials for the redevelopment and incorporating industrial design features into the overall ‘look’ of the property will act as a nod towards the textile history of the city, particularly the immediate vicinity with its warehouses and factories.”

“The development should act as a catalyst for further regeneration eastwards into this, perhaps, under-utilised area between central Manchester and the Piccadilly train station zone. The hotel will aim to tie-in with selected surrounding restaurants, local retailers and a spa.”

It is Mr Rana’s first foray into the hotel business but he already owns a number of restaurants. Plans were submitted last month and the developer hopes to get started in November.
