Matthews swaps IoD for EEF

DARRELL Matthews, the regional director of the Institute of Directors is moving to the manufacturers’ organisation the EEF.

Mr Matthews, who has worked with the IoD for over five years in its London and Manchester offices, will leave on September 27, following the IoD Director of the Year Awards.

He is joining EEF as its regional director in the North West, based in Glazebrook, Warrington. He replaces David Ost who retires at the end of the year.
 
Tony Attard, chairman of the IoD in the North West, said: “Darrell’s contribution to the IoD has been immense over the five years he has worked with us and he has overseen a period of continuous success and growth for the North West branch.

“He has worked tirelessly on maintaining the profile and influence of the IoD and securing high caliber speakers for our calendar of events. He masterminded the relocation of the IoD Members’ Lounge to City Tower, and has always been professional in his dealings with sponsors and partners.
 
“We’re very sorry to see him go, and wish him all the best in his next venture. In the meantime, we are in the middle of a process to recruit a successor and will be announcing Darrell’s replacement in due course.”
 
Andrew Buckley, director of membership at the EEF, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured someone of Darrell’s calibre for the role of region director. The EEF is committed to delivering the best support and services to the UK’s manufacturing businesses and we believe that Darrell’s input will help to drive this even more effectively.”

Mr Matthews said: “I’m immensely proud of the time I’ve spent with the IoD. I believe that the members are actively pushing forward the regional economy, and I wish my successor the very best in continuing this great work.”
