ANS completes council cloud contract

MANCHESTER-based IT group ANS Group has completed a cloud computing contract for Staffordshire County Council.

After a 12-way tender process the firm was chosen to design and install a new platform to increase capacity at the local authority’s data centres.

The project follows other public sector contract wins this year with the University of Cumbria and Salford City Council.

Managing director Paul Sweeney said: “Staffordshire County Council is a substantial organisation which required secure and reliable IT to support its numerous services. Councils are finding that more and more of the services they provide to the public rely on IT and older infrastructures simply aren’t able to cope with this new demand.

“With this investment the council now has a cutting edge IT infrastructure in place, with an improved capacity for handling increasing workloads.”

The value of the work was not disclosed.
